    For my wife's birthday dinner tonight, I shall be cooking a 34oz Cote de boeuf with Bearnaise sauce

    and thrice-cooked chips. So, posh steak and chips, basically.

    It is a frighteningly large piece of meat.

    As a special treat - because she's northern - I will also be preparing gravy for her to pour over my

    lovingly-made chips. No brownsauce, though. There have to be limits.

    34oz sounds like an awful of meat for two people. Just saying.

    My Mrs has f**ked off to the Wales with the kids.

    Easter and all that ****.

    Tonight will see me sample the pleasure of the “Spice Bag” from the local Gooks. Last night was Indian.

    Easter school holidays, visit to the in-laws.

    I simply could not get the time off.



    Nor would flying over on Friday have really been worth it.



    Pubs are closed all day friday here.

    It is, but you can always eat cold beef, can't you? Besides, it's symbolic.

    It wouldn't be a special meal if I just served up a normal sized steak, would it?
