It might go on for around a week in total. You need to be sure to drink plenty of fluids and avoid fruit juice.

The 'ribbon like' part is a bit more concerning. I'm not sure exactly what you mean but if you're saying that your stools are in one piece and very long, you should go to see your GP (if it doesn't clear up after a week or so). They may have to arrange for you to have a colonoscopy.
