    Obviously I notice this stuff a bit more now days. But when did Italian stuff become trendy for

    Christmas?

    Nobody used to sell panettone or pandoro,

    I went to a department store and it was all Italian stuff but over priced. Baci, Amaretto biscuits.

    I think this has happened only in the past few years.

    apart from that anybody noticed how many Italians are in London these days? There are no young people left in Italy.

    Pannetore and Pandoro are ****e, f. Like stale cake.

    Quite good for making bread and butter pudding with, though.

    I don't think I like cake much, to be honest. I think cake is really just a vehicle for the cream.

    If there's no cream, there's no point.

    One of Rick Steins books has a sicillian orange cake recipe.

    A simple thing that even I can run to with the aid of a magimix.
    It's a winner with everyone and usually devoured by the following morning.

    Double cream?

    Whipped up really thick?

    It has a top coat of icing sugar with juice but you could add a dollop on the side
