Thread: I hate to do this to you LA but your response below on the walcott and 2006 issue

  1. #11

Ah yes, though we'd employed it in the cups for a few years before

  2. #12

To recap (I have not read any articles) Walcott reckons that the strikers of today are better than

    the 2006 vintage?

Probably not a lot in it either way?

  3. #13

All hinges on a waning Henry v a waxing Sanchez

    Obviously...

  4. #14

Didn't Henry still win footballer of the year in 06 or am I making things up again?

  5. #15

Versus India on a bouncy track with a bit of early swing

we really ought to be winning handsomely. We have a decent side though, we just don't know how to play one-day cricket. Very much hope the tournament will be the making of James Taylor though - great batsman to watch

  6. #16

    I think he did

  7. #17

You're right, b - the Football Writers' one anyway . I was surprised by that

33 goals in 45 games though including 27 in 32 in the league

  8. #18

Wasn't that the won where he had something like 20 assists too?

  9. #19

Not sure one should suggest that Henry was on the way down at that point?

  10. #20

nope - but his mind had started to wonder elsewhere

was the point I was making earlier. Thinking about it Walcott didn't seem to mention Robin van Persie (who was obviously injured at the time)
