Very first sentence, probably a few other swear words in the same sentence.
I was entering a pub in Cardiff, Cathedral Road down by Sofia Gardens to be precise, and as I was on my way in he came out and nearly knocked me over so I gave him a verbal lashing.
I have met him. I thought he was a bit of a **** but I didn't say so.

No, no, back in the day I used to get lifts everywhere. I've had lifts all across Europe. i got a lift on a lorry out of Turkey all the way to Austria, once. This was in the mid-80s, of course, when One was less likely to end up búggered and dead.
