They have Newcastle next I believe, there is 3 points straight off.
I've just had a look and we have managed 13 points from 30 since New Year, shocking. We've completely f**king blown it this season.
between now and the end of the season *
*I clearly don't believe this
Essentially drinking cans and watching box sets.
Our boys have to go to Hull and Barcelona while destroying Watford in between.
this position, your money would probably be on it being an overachieving side like Leicester who are having the season of their lives but are ultimately not that good.
Put it this way, if they did win it, would you bet on them winning it again next season, or even on challenging?
(granted a big ask given our respective fixtures) it's not impossible that they'll **** it.
Though what would Chesea do if beating them would mean handing us or Spurs the title? :rubchin:
If only Wenger had signed Gokhan Inler - he was clearly the final piece of the jigsaw
this to happen.
For four clubs with such vastly bigger resources to have all had such mediocre seasons is a freakish coincidence. If even one of them had fulfilled their potential, I wonder if Leicester would have had the same resolve to stay in the race.
You don't really understand this professional football do you.
possible? You see it all the time.
With an 8 point gap, a lot of players will be approaching that mind-set already.
You are right though, how many seasons would Man Utd, Chelsea and City all be in such a complete mess? That's taking nothing away from Leicester though, as they have also found 3 incredibly good players who are playing well together and have instantly adjusted to the PL
The only possible explanation is Thai betting syndicates
And his management of the group of players.
We’re still in it and for that reason alone, allied with them being fantastically well rewarded professional footballers, they should be approaching every game with nothing but a hell bent desire to try and win.
Or "resources", as you put it.
football at any level.
I don’t mean they would give up trying to win games. But with it so far out of our hands, it's inevitable that a certain sense of resignation will creep into the players’ heads and thy won't approach games with quite the same level of intensity and focus as they would if it still felt within our grasp.
Which they do, we do. Slim perhaps but still exists.
It is Wenger’s job to try and galvanise that within the squad and to motivate them each and every time they play a game.
Do you think his final words as they go out on the Camp Nou will be “LOL, good luck chaps”.
Wenger: "I prefer that the fans are happy but I’m more worried that it can get to the players’ confidence level,"
if it was within their grasp.
And that *is* human nature. If you genuinely can’t see that, you are a child (and not in a sexy way)
I do see your point about human nature but if you are honestly trying to argue that any sense of giving up, while still mathematically in with a chance of winning the league, would reflect poorly on Wenger then you are demented and your desires to defend the man at all costs have caused this dementia.
The final two paragraphs are probably spot on though, I reckon. We may be footballistically unique in England; our supporters are better than average though, imo.
if it could hand the title to Man U.... oh
Spus have won 6 out of their last 8 league games... hardly a sign of bottling it
Still think we have more chance of finishing outside the top 4 than winning this
FACT
fourth place, and in doing so will hand the title to Spurs?
This is more likely than any misty-eyed tosh about our title hopes, sadly. Obviously I hope I'm wrong. Faith has abandoned me, unfortunately.
