glacial melt region Trent was under glacier..completley different kettle of fish finding way to sea from there than oxford imo
because thames basin has continual decline in bowl into one
logical outlet plus one main type of easily cuttable sedimentary soil/rock on top, lots of rivers if very flat floodplane/outlet plus bands of harder rock can go very meandery indeed ..hence my ultimate favourite...ox box lakes imo :cloud9:

Yes, as Snin says, there is the whole 'Thames valley' thing going on and London is a bowl but the Thames is the longer river covering a comparable distance.
