We had one of the most expensive squards in England back in the mid-80s, costing around £4M. To put that into context, we lost in the FA Cup 4th round to 3rd division York whose whole squard cost a combined total of £19000. That is why we were leetle beet short, financially when GG took over.
We're currently in a position where we have spent a reasonable amount of money acquiring players and failed to manage the contract situation of some, leading to losing players for reduced or, in the case of Wilshere and soon to be Ramsey, nothing. Things are going to be a bit tight for a while. It's all rather disappointing. Emery has a challenge on his hands but does have some good players to work with.
Saw a fair bit of the Concacaf WC qualifying (late night bets) and this guy stood out a country mile playing for the US. Felt sorry for him.
The recent game vs England was the same. They had 1 great chance it was him passing the ball to himself  he passed it but no one read it so he had to chase after it himself.
Can play anywhere up front...left wing, right wing, down the middle, second striker or a the lone guy. Good player.
But who needs him when you got Bukayo Saka eh.
Same with everyone going about this Koudabaili chap.
Get real....£120m loooooool :hehe:
It will be James Tarkowski after Burnley get relegated and the boy from Norwich.
According to a report I just read Chelsea just spent £58mil on someone that can't get into the Dortmund team.
He's only started 5 games all year, it said. Fingers crossed. :-)
Matt Hummels mentioned too ie old Dortmund link with Sokratis.
At least we moved on from Cahill.
Thank god.
They have bought a potentially excellent player to be fair.
His absence from the BVB team this season an odd one but then the new manager has also chosen to leave out Wiegl more often than not, the two players who arguably would have been the jewels in the crown before now.

Come now, Julian Wiegl? No?
Surprised we are not being linked with him as before this season he was being touted for the likes of City and Barcelona, has been replaced by Frankie de Jong from Ajax as the most sought after young player in his position in Europe.
Class act.
Ah, there you are, sw. I saw this Irish wedding catering on twitter and thought of you.
