Why do people bother with the 'Recall function' on an email

You know if you get an email that somebody wants to recall you are going to read it.

Well, if you haven't read it yet or you haven't synced with the email server then it can be recalled without your knowledge of it ever being in your inbox.

Having your emails on your phone with push notification can render the recall obsolete of course...
