When does the window slam shut?

why does it need to be slammed shut. That's not good practice. Why can't it be closed in a sensible manner.

What will sky do now that big ben don't bong anymore?

Is it one of those old sash windows that comes down like a guillotine? Nasty buggers those if you weren't careful. And almost impossible not to slam shut.

Obviously, there's no sense in slamming shut a standard UPVC window. Won't even make a decent noise.
