Have you ever played field hockey? You being a lefty, I am pretty sure that you would grab the club with your left hand, and then put your right hand below.

You stand at the start, do the feet thing, wiggle your arms, look in the general direction of the end and then the f**king ball goes a completely different direction, if you're lucky.

On occasion it rolls about 1 foot from where you stand.

and right hand below, meaning you hit it the way a right handed player would hit a golf shot. Which is the way you should hit a golf shot too - don't listen to those who tell you a left handed player has to hit it the linx way.

The reason you swing the hurley the way you do, is that being a lefty you will of course use your left hand when you run along with the stick in one hand. So when you shoot, it's natural to grap the stick with your right hand below, so you won't waste any time.
